Arundhati Roy

Suzanna Arundhati Roy (born 24 November 1961) is an Indian author best known for her novel The God of Small Things (1997), which won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 1997 and became the biggest-selling book by a non-expatriate Indian author.

Arundhati Roy's " The God of Small things" follow the story of twins whose leaves are destroyed by societies "Love lous". Set in small town in India. "The God of Small things" reveals around fraternal twins Rahel and Estha who was separated for 23 years after the fateful hours in which their cousins drowns their mothers affair is revealed and her lover is murdered. the book is set at the point of the twins reunion and confronts the social moars of India.

And then we meet the two Miss Jebeens: the first a child born in Srinagar and buried in its overcrowded Martyrs' Graveyard; the second found at midnight, abandoned on a concrete sidewalk in the heart of New Delhi.

As this ravishing, deeply humane novel braids these lives together, it reinvents what a novel can do and can be. The Ministry of Utmost Happiness demonstrates on every page the miracle of Arundhati Roy's storytelling gifts.
